After completing a successful renovation of their original location, the owners of Ginger Bay Salon and Spa had a clear vision of what they wanted to achieve when designing this 1,800 square foot space. Whitney Lannert, Designer at Rataj-Krueger Architects, Inc., worked with owners Laura Ortmann-Evenson and Jeff Evenson to bring their design vision to life. The sustainable mission of the owners and designer was met by incorporating ecofriendly materials that were both cost effective and helped to create the high-end hospitality environment. Centiva’s luxury vinyl tiles and planks were chosen for this project because of their sustainable attributes, ease of maintenance, and design qualities.
The designer created a clean, contemporary space with an industrial flair. Contrasting vinyl planks were used to lead guests throughout the salon. The changes in flooring were mirrored by the ceiling and helped to create the calming yin and yang feel that the design team had envisioned. A white palette provided a neutral backdrop that highlights the processes and functions of the salon as well as the artwork. It also increases reflectivity, thus reducing the quantity of required lighting.
“The key concerns for this project were durability, maintenance, initial and life cycle costs, and the environmental attributes of the products and manufacturers,” remarked Kurtis Krueger, Rataj-Krueger’s Principal. “We tested Centiva products using common threats in a salon such as nail polish, hair color, and acetone and had favorable results.”
When asked why Centiva was chosen, Krueger replied, “We all felt the Centiva collection had superior surface texture selections, color choices, visual appearances, and it met the sustainable mission for this project.”
Backed by a 20 year Commercial Wear Warranty, Centiva flooring is sure to look great for years to come. The modern aesthetic creates an inviting space at the Ginger Bay Salon and Spa. The owners have succeeded in providing a safe, healthy indoor environment for their customers and employees.
